We don't use the word “indestructible” — because no toy is, and using it for an Oodle would be particularly dishonest.

Most “tough” toys are built for power chewers — Staffies, Bulldogs, breeds that use jaw strength to crush. Your Oodle is a precision shredder. They find the seam, the join, the weak point, and pull. It's a completely different chewing style, and building for one doesn't help the other.

Our toys are built around how Oodles actually chew: no seams, no starting points, no loose parts to exploit. That's the design difference, not a marketing claim about durability.

This is a real and fair concern. Oodles are clever enough to assess a toy in about 30 seconds and lose interest if it doesn't offer them anything to do.

The rubber toys (Bones and Footys) are designed to satisfy specific instincts your Oodle already has — the chew drive, the fetch drive, the foraging and licking instinct. They're not puzzle toys that go stale. A dog that wants to chew will always want to chew.

For the Footy: load the grooves with xylitol-free peanut butter or bone broth. For the Bone: introduce it when your Oodle is in a calm state, not overstimulated. Some dogs take 2–3 sessions to settle into a new chew toy.

Freeze it overnight for a longer, calmer session — especially useful before you leave for work.

Licking activates the parasympathetic nervous system — the same biological mechanism that makes grooming calming. A licking dog is a calmer dog.

No — and we're clear about that upfront, not in the fine print.

No rope toy is appropriate for unsupervised use. Rope fibres, even natural cotton ones, can cause intestinal blockages if swallowed in quantity. The Tug and Tumble is a supervised, together-toy: you bring it out, you play, you put it away.

For solo unsupervised time, the Bone is the toy you leave behind — solid natural rubber, no parts to detach, no fibres to ingest.

The rubber toys pass the thumbnail test — they're in the safe zone for growing teeth, unlike hard nylon or antler chews that can cause fractures.

For puppies under 12 weeks, we'd recommend the Small Bone or Mini Footy with supervision. If in doubt, go smaller rather than larger.

Rubber toys (Bones and Footys): dishwasher-safe on the top rack, or wash with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly and air-dry. Avoid bleach — it degrades natural rubber.

Tug and Tumble: hand-wash only. Do not machine-wash or tumble-dry — it weakens the rope knots.

If using spreads in the Footy, rinse promptly after each session.

A $12 rubber toy from a mass-market pet store is usually synthetic rubber with dyes, sized for a generic “medium dog”, designed for a jaw-crushing chew style that isn't how your Oodle chews. Most Oodle parents have a bin of them.

Short answer: yes, our rubber toys are designed to be tooth-safe.

The thumbnail test: press a thumbnail firmly into the toy. If it gives slightly and springs back — it's in the tooth-safe zone. Our Bones pass this test. Nylon chews and antlers typically do not.

Slab fractures are most commonly caused by chews harder than tooth enamel — nylon bones, antlers, real bones, ice. Natural rubber with appropriate give does not carry this risk.

If your dog has an existing cracked tooth, consult your vet before introducing any chew toy — including ours.

Rubber toys: solid construction with no removable parts, no stuffing, no squeaker. If your dog bites off a small piece from a heavily worn toy, discontinue use immediately and contact your vet.

Tug and Tumble: natural cotton rope. Cotton is biodegradable and less hazardous than synthetic fibres, but rope should never be left with a dog unsupervised.

Our production partners are required to meet our material specifications — natural rubber only, no BPA, no synthetic dyes — verified at the product level.

Inspect before each session. Deep gouges, significant wear, or torn sections — remove the toy.

Match the toy to the context. Solo/unsupervised time: Bones only. Supervised play: all toys. Never leave a rope toy with an unsupervised dog.

Size matters. Too small creates a choking risk; too large and the dog can't grip properly.

Replace at the first sign of breakdown, not when the toy has fully come apart.

We use weight as the primary guide because the same breed name can span very different sizes across generations (F1, F1b, Mini, Standard).

The Tug and Tumble suits all sizes — it's a together-toy where you control the energy level.

Go bigger. For a dog in the 12–14kg range, the Big versions are the safer call.

Under-sizing creates a choking risk. Over-sizing just means a slightly larger toy, which is far less dangerous.
